EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The 2020 Annual Report marks the inaugural year of the African Network of Adolescents and Young Persons Development (ANAYD). Established with a vision to empower adolescents and young people across Africa, ANAYD has laid a strong foundation for addressing key issues affecting youth, including HIV/AIDS awareness, sexual and reproductive health education, and digital advocacy.

Despite the challenges posed by the global COVID-19 pandemic, ANAYD successfully established its organizational structure, formed initial partnerships, and launched several pilot programs. Our focus on creating a youth-led, youth-centered approach has guided our work from inception, ensuring that young people remain at the heart of our mission and activities.

This report outlines our achievements, challenges, and lessons learned during our founding year. It also presents our strategic priorities for the future as we work towards creating a more inclusive, healthy, and empowered generation of young Africans.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS OF 2020 INCLUDE:

  • Establishing ANAYD as a registered non-profit organization with a clear mission and vision
  • Building a core team of dedicated young professionals and volunteers
  • Launching pilot programs in HIV/AIDS awareness and sexual health education
  • Forming initial partnerships with local community organizations and international agencies
  • Developing a strategic plan for 2021-2023 to guide our growth and impact
